Computer supported collaborative learning

The impact of ICT on tourism and hospitality industries has been widely recognised as one of the major changes in the last decade: new ways of communicating with prospective tourists and of purchasing products became part of these industries’ everyday lives. Little attention has been paid to the role played by new media in education in these fields.

As an organizational arrangement, the professional learning community is seen as a powerful staff development approach and a potent strategy for business change and improvement. Thus, persons at all levels of the educational system concerned about business improvement.

Attributes of Professional Learning Communities

The literature on professional learning communities repeatedly gives attention to five attributes of such organizational arrangements:

supportive and shared leadership,
collective creativity,
shared values and vision,
supportive conditions, and
shared personal practice.
